AML Travel and Tours is a Tanzania-based operator that organises safaris, Kilimanjaro climbs and beach stays on Zanzibar. If you book through Coin7, you get part of the commission back after your trip, and the trip itself costs you the same as it would anyway. Below is what the company does, how paying works and what to look at before you commit.

What AML Travel and Tours actually does

The company runs trips in Tanzania, and that is where its focus lies. On its website you find safari packages that run from a few days to well over a week, with the big names of the northern circuit such as the Serengeti and the Ngorongoro Crater. Then there are Kilimanjaro treks for people who want to stand on the roof of Africa, and beach holidays on Zanzibar. Flight ticketing is offered as well, which is handy when you would rather have one contact for the whole journey.

The operator is based in Tanzania itself and says it is a member of the local industry bodies, TATO, TTB and ATTA. That is worth knowing, because it means the people planning your route live where the parks are. It is not a guarantee of anything, but it is a sensible thing to check when you compare safari companies.

Who this is useful for

A tailor-made trip suits people who do not want to piece together lodges, drivers and transfers on their own. Someone planning a first safari, for example, usually has a dozen questions: when is the dry season, how many days make sense in the park, can a beach week be added at the end. With an operator like this you ask those questions by email or phone and get a route built around the answers.

It also works for climbers. A Kilimanjaro trek needs guides, porters and a route that gives your body time to adjust, and most people prefer to leave that to a local company. If you travel from the UK, the operator lists a UK phone number next to the Tanzanian one, so you do not have to call abroad to talk about your plans.

How booking and paying works

There is no shopping basket for a ready-made package in the usual sense. You get in touch through the contact page, by email or by phone, describe what you want and then agree on the programme. Payment is made online through a secure checkout, and the website mentions Stripe for that.

You can pay in full or spread the cost. The site describes instalment plans over several monthly payments, and an extra fee is added when you choose this route, so compare the total before you decide. The final payment is due thirty days before departure. If you plan to pay in instalments, count back from your travel date and make sure the plan actually fits into the time you have left.

Cancellation: read this before you pay

The cancellation terms on the website are staggered by how close you are to departure. Cancel early and you lose only the deposit, with the rest refunded. Cancel closer to the date and the refund shrinks in steps. Inside the last thirty days nothing comes back at all. The exact steps are on the operator’s own pages, so read them there rather than relying on a summary.

In practice this means you should be sure about your dates before you pay the deposit. Flights, leave from work and park fees all depend on the same calendar. A travel insurance policy that covers cancellation is worth considering for a trip like this, because the refund schedule is strict.
